5 shootings last night in DC leaves a young boy fighting for his life

DC Police have not identified the boy shot in Southeast, DC last night.  The child was playing on a football field on Naylor Road at the time.  He suffered life threatening injuries. Police are investigating four other seperate shootings in the city last night all within a 6 hour period.

The District hosts a free star studded concert to honor Veterans! 800- thousand expected

City officials are preparing for tens of thousands of people from all over the U.S. to attend tonights free celebrity Veteran’s Day “Concert for Valor”. The event on the National Mall begins at 7 tonight and it will feature artist Rihanna, Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica and Carrie Underwood along with actors Jamie Foxx.  The show will air live on HBO.

Micheal Brown’s parents go before the UN for help in thier son’s case in Ferguson, Missouri

The parents of Micheal Brown are in Switzerland today before members of a United Naitons committee against torture.  They are asking for “Global Intervention” into the shooting death of thier 18 year old unarmed son by a Ferguson police officer.  A decision from then grand jury looking into the matter could decide any day now, if charges will be filed against police officer Darren Wilson. Tension remains high in Ferguson ahead of thier decision.

The man accused of kidnapping a Philadelphia woman is returned to the state

The FBI has transfered the man accused of abducting a woman from the streets of Philadelphia from Richmond, Virginia to a jail in Philadelphia this morning.  Delvin Barnes is due to appear in court on Wednesday to answer to charges in the kidnapping of 22 year old Carlesha Freeland-Gaither on November 2nd.

School leaders in Montgomory County look at adding a Muslim Holiday to the calendar

The Montgomery County School Board is meeting today and they will decide on whether or not to add the Muslim Holiday Eid al adha to the 2015 – 2016 school calendar.  The Muslim Holiday falls on the same day as the Jewish Holiday Yom Kippur. Leaders will discuss adding the Muslim Holiday, removing the Jewish Holiday or removing all religious Holiday’s from the calendar.
