Jesse Matthew’s trial date is set

Earlier this morning Jesse Matthew appeared in a Fairfax County Courtroom to answer to nine charges related to a 2005 rape of woman.  Matthew who will now be transferred back to Charlottesville, Virgina pleaded “not guilty”.  His court date for the 2005 rape case has been set for March 9, 2015.   Matthew has a December 4th court date in Charlottesville in connection with the abduction of UVA student Hannah Graham. He has not been charged with her murder.

Budget cuts threaten student’s transportation

Facing budget cuts, Loudoun County may begin charging students to take the bus the school. Last year’s 38 million dollar deficit has the county looking to cut cost wherever they can afford. School Board member, Bill Fox said if it comes down to taking money from the classroom or transportation, he would rather cut from transportation.

FDA may lift ban on who can give blood

The Food and Drug Administration is considering allowing gay men to give blood. Thursday, the FDA heard testimony from gay advocates who say the 37 year old law is no longer relevant and changing it could save millions of lives.   The ban was in acted in 1977 during the beginning of the HIV & AIDS epidemic.
