Inside Lee’s Flower & Card Shop Grand Re-Opening

Lee’s Flower and Card Shop, located at 1026 U Street NW, was established in 1945 and is still family owned and operated. It has been a staple of the Historic U Street corridor since 1969. That’s 72 years!

On April 27 Lee’s celebrated its grand re-opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony where WHUR proudly joined in the day of festivities broadcasting live with WHUR’s talent Angela Stribling hosting the event. DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, city officials, the entire Lee Family and Grammy Award-winning Patti Austin were all present.

Lee’s is one of the few black owned businesses remaining on U Street, which used to be known as Black Broadway. Lee’s has prepared flowers for the rich and famous, the White House, Kings and Queens, and for everyday Washingtonians and beyond. Lee’s is known for its fresh, high quality flowers custom prepared for each order.

Be sure to stop by to check out their newly renovated space and let them know that WHUR sent you!
