Man pleads guilty in killing Muslim teen…

The man police arrested for the rape and brutal beating of 17-year-old Nabra Hassanen has entered a guilty plea. The announcement came down earlier this hour.

Darwin Torres has plead guilty to a number of charges related to her June 18th murder in Sterling Virginia. Hassanen was walking with friends back to her mosque for Ramadan when Torres drove his car up on the side walked were the teens were walking. He got out and grabbed her and took her to another location where he beat and raped her.

Investigators say he then dumped her body in a pond and returned to the scene of the crime. That’s where someone recognized him and called police. The prosecution in agreement with the family has decided not to pursue the death penalty.

DC Police get a break in two big cases…

DC Police have arrested two girls in connection to this Monday’s stabbing of a teen girl at the Minnesota Avenue Metro Station. The girls arrested are juveniles. They now face assault with intent to kill, felony assault.

Investigators say the stabbing followed an oral argument between the 14-year-old victim and the two suspects. The victim’s injuries are non-life threatening.
