Botham Jean Mother: Powers That Be Need To Give Me Answers

(Dallas, TX) — The mother of a man shot to death by a North Texas cop still wants to know what happened. Allison Jean says the powers that be need to give her answers on the interaction between Botham Jean and Officer Amber Guyger before his death. She also wants to make sure law enforcement is doing all it can to bring justice for her son. Guyger was arrested yesterday for manslaughter after shooting Jean to death inside his apartment last week. It’s believed Guyger mistakenly believed she was in her own apartment after finishing up work. Jean is from the island nation of Saint Lucia and was working in North Texas at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Florence Upgraded To Cat 4 Storm

The National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Florence’s maximum sustained winds are now at 130 miles-per-hour, making it a Category 4 storm. The storm is about 575 miles south-southeast of Bermuda and is moving to the west at 13 miles-per-hour. The storm is projected to take aim at North Carolina, South Carolina and Virgina later this week, as all three governors have already declared states of emergency.

Serena Williams Fined During U.S. Open Women’s Final

(Flushing Meadows, NY) — Serena Williams is being fined 17-thousand-dollars for her actions Saturday during the U.S. Open final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. The tournament referee’s office fined Williams ten-thousand-dollars for verbal abuse towards the umpire, four-thousand-dollars for a coaching violation and three-thousand-dollars for smashing her racket. The tennis star was assessed the violations for multiple altercations with chair umpire Carlos Ramos. Japan’s Naomi Osaka defeated Williams in straight-sets 6-2, 6-4 to claim her first Grand Slam Title.

Video Shows Rat Pulling Fire Alarm

(Washington, DC) — Surveillance video is answering the question of who pulled the fire alarm at a DC condo building last summer. It was a rat. Video posted by NBC Washington shows a rat leaping from a railing onto the fire alarm, pulling the lever and then falling off. Apparently nobody knew what caused the fire alarm to go off last summer until someone finally reviewed the surveillance footage. The entire building had to be evacuated because of the rodent.
