Primary Day In The District, Man Killed in Bladensburg Park Identified, President Continues Defense of ‘Zero Tolerance’

Primary time in DC 

It’s primary day in the District.  Voters will decide today on Democrat nominees for mayor, attorney general, delegate to Congress, four council seats and the council’s chairmanship. Voters will also decide if the minimum wage should be raised from $11.50 to $15 an hour by 2020. That increase to $15 would include tipped workers, who currently earn $3.33 an hour. Polls stay open tonight until 8 o’clock.

Teenager killed in Prince George’s County park

Police have identified the teenager shot and killed in a Bladensburg park on Monday. The victim is 17-year-old Bryan Alvarado-Esquivel of Northwest, DC. Esquival was found by police in Varnum Park yesterday afternoon suffering from a gunshot wound. He would die at an area hospital. Police are searching for suspects.

Trump stands by immigration policy

President Trump is again defending his tough border policies. Trump’s administration is facing growing pressure over the forced separation of migrant children from their parents at the border. During a speech in DC today, Mr. Trump repeated his claim that Democrats are to blame for supporting “loopholes” in federal laws. The president argued that border security is essential and he condemned the flow of illegal drugs into the U.S.
