A Prince George’s Co. Principle is placed on leave, accused of hitting a student…

We all know that cell phones are everywhere and yesterday someone’s cell phone captured an altercation that has placed a local high school teacher on administrative leave.

Flowers High School Principle Dr. Gorman Brown has been placed on leave after cell phone video surfaced on social media apparently showing him hitting a male student. The alleged incident happened yesterday. Raven Hill who is a spokeswoman for the Prince George’s County School System says they are investigating the matter. There’s no word at this time if police are also looking into the incident.

Parents have been sent home to parents. Assistant Principal Ronald Miller will assume the duties of principal until further notice.


The debate over starting school in Md after Labor Day resumes…

Most in Maryland thought the issue of starting school after Labor Day was over after the Governor made it law. This morning we have learned that Democrats are bringing the issue back up.

State Senate lawmakers are debating in Annapolis on a bill to allow school districts to decide when schools start and end classes. Preliminary approval is expected today.

In 2016 Governor Larry Hogan issued an executive order requiring all public schools to begin school after Labor Day to help businesses and parents during the summer months. Yesterday Hogan stated that 73% of Marylander’s approved starting classes after the big end of summer holiday.
