Tina Turner is set to have a musical debut on Broadway in the fall of 2019. The musical, entitled Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, will showcase the music mogul’s rock star life.

The musical, which is currently playing at the Aldwych Theatre in London’s West End, debuted in London back in April. Since the show’s debut, a second production has been added to the schedule in Hamburg, Germany, making Broadway the show’s third simultaneous production.

According to the New York TimesTina: The Tina Turner Musical is written by Katori Hall, Frank Ketelaar, and Kees Prins, and is directed by Phyllida Lloyd, who also directed the musical Mamma Mia.

Even though casting has not been set, Adrienne Warren, the cast led for the musical in London, is expected to be a star in the Broadway production as well.

The musical is centered around Turner’s life journey showing her progression to how she became the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

In a statement reported by Rolling Stone, Turner touched upon her excitement for the play debuting on Broadway and how much she has enjoyed bringing the musical to life.

“Bringing this musical to life on stage and working with this team has meant so much to me,” stated Turner.

“I feel that it is in many ways a culmination of my career. London audiences have been and continue to be extraordinary. Now, the bright lights of Broadway are calling, and I’m very excited to share this beautiful show with New York audiences next year.”

Ms. Turner, who is now 78, continues to raise the bar with her national and international musical production and soon to be released second memoir, entitled Tina Turner: My Love Story.
