“Say Yes To The Prom” Initiative Provides Prom Attire To Area Kids In Need

TLC’s SAY YES TO THE PROM initiative stopped in Silver Spring, MD Thursday, April 20 at Discovery Communications’ Global Corporate Headquarters to make prom dreams come true for more than 200 economically under-served and academically high achieving high school students. As part of the all-day event, participating students were treated to a day of free prom dress, tuxedo and accessory “shopping” alongside TLC’s Monte Durham. In addition to gifting students with their perfect prom look, the program also used the milestone occasion to prepare students for college and careers with internship, scholarship, mentorship and networking opportunities.

The Silver Spring event marked the fifth and final stop on the sixth annual SAY YES TO THE PROM tour, which this year has touched the lives of more than 1,000 students across the United States with previous stops in Los Angeles, Miami, NYC, and Chicago.
