WHUR In The Community For Howard University’s Day Of Service


Friday, August 18, 2017– The 5th Annual Howard University Day of Service has begun. Hundreds of students, staff and alumni volunteers are spreading across the Washington Metropolitan area to help communities in need. The areas of focus include addressing: educational disparities, environmental concerns, homelessness, and poverty. Volunteers are also headed to Charlottesville, Va to meet with residents and faith leaders to take part in activities there. Taylor Thomas stopped by Washington Metro H.S. to talk to volunteers helping teacher’s prepare for the start of classes on Monday.

Growing up in a military family, Taylor Thomas lived overseas until she was 16 years old. She called places such as Great Britain and the Philippines home. For a time, Taylor even spoke with a British accent. Well now she resides in the DC area and for the past three years has worked as the news anchor for The Steve Harvey Morning Show on WHUR. Recently, Taylor has adopted the Washington Redskins as her most loved pro sports team.
