Grassley Wants To Hear From Kavanaugh Accuser

(Washington, DC) — Iowa Republican Chuck Grassley wants to hear from the woman who is accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, more than 30 years ago. In a statement today, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said the panel will treat the allegation in an appropriate and respectful manner. He also slammed the leak that outed the woman, California college professor Christine Blasey Ford. She had requested anonymity. Kavanaugh has denied the allegation.

North Carolina Florence Update

(Raleigh, NC) — North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper says the danger following Hurricane Florence is still immediate. Emergency management experts warn that flooding will continue for the next few days as rivers crest and spill into neighborhoods. Florence has since been downgraded to a tropical depression, but it has officially claimed the lives of at least 20 people. The body of a one-year-old was recovered today and that tally is expected to rise. Cooper is urging residents not to drive in affected areas as more than 12-hundred roads have been closed.

One Dead After Officer Involved Shooting In Temple Hills

(Temple Hills, MD) — One person is dead after an officer involved shooting in Temple Hills this morning. Prince George’s County Police Chief Henry P. Stawinski said it started when officers responded to a call of a suspect stealing items from a car in the 33-hundred block of Huntley Square Drive. When an officer approached a man matching the description of the suspect, the man ran into an apartment building. Police found the suspect hiding in a laundry room a short time leader and a struggle took place when the suspect did not comply with the officers’ verbal commands. Police tased the suspect but it did not take effect. Stawinski says that’s when the suspect pulled a gun and fired one shot. An officer returned fire and killed the suspect. An investigation is underway.

Amber Guyger Moves Out Of Apartment Complex

(Dallas, TX) — Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger no longer lives at the apartment complex where she killed Botham Jean. The owners of Southside Flats sent a letter to people at the complex yesterday letting them know of the move. Rumors Guyger vacated the building circled on social media late last week. Guyger is accused of manslaughters in Jean’s death which she claimed happened because she accidentally went to the wrong apartment.
