Security Guard Shoots Man At WTTG-TV FOX 5

A security guard at shot a man who tried to get into the studios of FOX 5, WTTG-TV.  DC police say the man broke a studio window at the studios on Wisconsin Avenue, NW, this afternoon.  Police investigators say the guard shot the man after first pepper spraying him, but the man continued to be aggressive. The man is listed in critical condition at George Washington University Hospital.

Jury Selection For Trial Of Man In Prince George’s Cop Murder

Jury selection got underway in the murder trial of Michael Ford.  He is one of three brothers charged in the 2016 murder of Prince George’s County Police detective Jacai Colson.  Ford is accused of a gun attack on a county police station.  Colson was killed by friendly fire as other officers defended against the attack.

Former NFL Player Released From Prison After 18-Year Murder Conspiracy Term

(Sampson County, NC) — Nearly 19 years after fatally shooting his pregnant girlfriend, former Carolina Panthers star Rae Carruth is a free man. The 44-year-old Carruth was released from a North Carolina prison this morning. Carruth was a star wide receiver and former first-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers. He was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Cherica Adams. Prosecutors said he used his car to block Adams’ vehicle so the man Carruth hired could shoot her four times. Doctors delivered her baby boy by cesarean section. She died four weeks later. The boy was born with cerebral palsy. He’s now 18 and has been raised by Adams’ mother.

Closing Arguments Today In Mansion Murder Trial

(Washington, DC) — Closing arguments in the trial of the man who allegedly killed a wealthy DC family and their housekeeper are set for today. Daron Wint is charged with several counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping and arson for the 2015 murder of Savvas Savopoulos, his wife, his son and the family’s housekeeper. Prosecutors say Wint committed the crimes to get a 40-thousand dollar ransom. Wint’s lawyers claim he was set up by his brother and half brother.

Lotteries Offering Jackpots Worth More Than Two Billion Dollars Combined

More than two-billion-dollars will be up for grabs this week in the Mega Millions and Powerball lotteries. There was no winner in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing. That means Wednesday’s drawing is expected to reach at least 620-million-dollars. And that’ll be a day after the Mega Millions is offering a world-record jackpot of one-point-six-billion-dollars. Powerball had the previous world record at just under one-point-six-billion for a 2016 drawing. These are two of the top five biggest jackpots in U.S. lottery history.
