Woman Found Fatally Shot

Prince George’s County police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman in Chillum. Officers responded around 12:20 a.m. after hearing gunshots in the 15-hundred block of Ray Road. They found the female victim outside a home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She died at the scene. Police asking anyone with information to come forward as they search for a suspect and motive. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling 866-411-TIPS.

Possible Drowning At Downtown DC Hotel

DC police are investigating after a person was found dead this morning at a downtown hotel. Officers responded to the Cambria Hotel and Suites at the convention center after a person was found dead inside the hotel pool. Investigators are trying to determine if the person drowned. It’s unclear if the victim was a guest at the hotel.

General Assembly Fails To Pass Child Sex Abuse Bill

While this year’s Maryland General Assembly session is largely being reported as a success, there are plenty of bills that did not make the cut. A high profile bill that was aimed at protecting against child sex abuse in schools did not make it through the Maryland House, even though it was approved by the Senate. The legislation would have ushered in criminal penalties for failure to report abuse in schools. The bill came in response to the Deonte Carraway case. Carraway was convicted on multiple sex offense against students in Prince George’s County.

Zuckerberg In Spotlight During Senate Hearing

Embattled Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is in the spotlight on Capitol Hill today. Zuckerberg plans to apologize for his company’s data sharing controversy and will take tough questions about privacy issues. He will be pressed about Cambridge Analytica, a political consulting group that improperly tapped into the data of millions of Facebook users. Zuckerberg has also acknowledged that he should have taken warnings about phony news stories more seriously in the 2016 presidential campaign.
