Fatal shooting in Suitland…

A person is dead after a shooting in Suitland. Prince George’s County Police say officers were called to the 39-hundred block of Southern Avenue around 2:00 yesterday afternoon. Responding crews attempted to perform life-saving measures on the victim, but he died at the hospital. An investigation is ongoing.

“A Day Without A Woman” is leaving more kids without classes. Prince George’s County schools will be closed today after 17-hundred teachers asked for the day off. The teachers are joining women around the country to call attention to how important women are to the economy. Teachers in Alexandria are also part of what’s called “A Day Without A Woman” and classes there are also closed today.

Rally planned for International Women’s Day…

A rally being held today will call on women to let their voices be heard around the world and especially at the White House. The rally at the Department of Labor is part of International Women’s Day to promote equal rights and end workplace harassment. Organizers say their message will be targeted in part to President Trump and the new leadership at the Labor Department. The rally starts at 3:30 and women are encouraged to wear red even if they’re not attending the event.

Lawmakers debate President Trumps Healthcare replacement plan…

Two House panels start taking apart the new Republican health care plan today. The Energy and Commerce Committee and the Ways and Means Committee are holding separate markup sessions. They will look at the proposal line by line and consider possible amendments.
