An early morning house fire kills a woman in Capitol Heights…

The woman rescued this morning from a house fire on Wilbur Drive in Capitol Heights has died. The elderly victim has not been identified. Police and fire crews remain in the 6800 block of Wilbur Drive as they look for a cause.

The Ballou Knights win the Turkey Bowl…

The Ballou Knights have defeated the four-time Turkey Bowl champs the Woodson Warriors. The score 21 to 14. The game began with some controversy as 17 Woodson players were suspended from playing the coveted day because of a huge
brawl during the semi-finals earlier this month with Eastern.

It’s Black Friday, retails are hoping for big numbers…

Today is Black Friday and retailers are hoping to get customers in the stores and
away from on line shopping. The National Retail Federation says the average person will spend about $1,000 on gifts this holiday season. Locally, turn out was big overnight, not so much early morning.
