Flynn Pleads Guilty, Agrees To Cooperate In Russia Probe

A man who was once one of President Trump’s closest advisers is pleading guilty to lying to the FBI. Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn appeared in court in Washington, DC today and pled guilty to a charge of misleading the bureau about his contact with a Russian ambassador. In a statement, Flynn denied accusations of treason. However, he acknowledged what he did was wrong, and that he’d participate in the probe into Russian meddling in last year’s election.

Congressman Blake Farenthold Settled Sexual Harassment Claim For $84-thousand

Capitol Hill is dealing with another sexual harassment scandal. It was revealed today that Congressman Blake Farenthold settled a sexual harassment claim lodged by a former employee for 84-thousand-dollars. The revelation represents the first taxpayer-funded settlement of its kind that has so far been made public. The settlement came after the Texas Republican’s former communications director, Lauren Greene, brought a complaint against the congressman for sexual harassment and discrimination. Both parties agreed to settle out of court the following year.

Baltimore Police Ask FBI To Take Over Probe Into Detective’s Death

The FBI is being called in to investigate the shooting death of a Baltimore police detective. Police Commissioner Kevin Davis says he asked the agency to take over the investigation of Detective Sean Suiter’s murder. Suiter died the day he was to testify before a federal grand jury in a police corruption case involving a former police sergeant. The detective was shot in the head with his own weapon on November 15th in a West Baltimore neighborhood. Despite a 215-thousand-dollar reward, there have been no arrests in the case.

McConnell Says He Has Votes To Pass Big Tax Bill

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says enough votes are there to pass the big Republican tax bill today. He made the remark to reporters after leaving a closed meeting of GOP senators. A final vote is expected to happen later today on the complex package of tax cuts and reforms. All Democrats are expected to vote no, calling the bill a big gift to the wealthy. The House recently passed a sweeping tax bill, which is President Trump’s top legislative priority.
