Police Officer Charged In Deadly Shooting

A Prince George’s County police officer has been charged in connection with last week’s deadly shooting outside a McDonald’s in Waldorf. Authorities had already charged Caroline Conway with murder and attempted murder in the shootings of Robert Mange and his wife. A second arrest came last night when Richard Conway was taken into custody. Police are looking into whether his service weapon was used in the shootings. Investigators say the violence was sparked by a child custody dispute.

Baltimore Sees Surge In Gun Violence

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake says the recent surge in violence has to stop. Police are investigating more than two dozen shootings over the Memorial Day weekend and the 35 people killed so far in May is the most in any single month in Baltimore in 16 years. The murders come as the police union reports morale is at an all-time low following the arrests of six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray.

DOJ Settles With Cleveland Over Police Excessive Force

The city of Cleveland and the Justice Department are announcing a settlement following an investigation of the city’s police department. The agreement includes an overhaul of the police department’s use-of-force policy. The agreement comes after a nearly two-year probe that found Cleveland police were engaged in widespread excessive force against civilians.

Houston Officials Urge Residents To Stay Home Due To Flooding

Many Houston residents are stuck in their homes this morning after major flooding in the area. Most of the city’s roads are impassable due to severe storms in the area, and many schools have been shut down today. More than eight inches of rain was reported on one stretch of freeway. Several hundred people who attended last night’s Houston Rockets game were still stuck at the Toyota Center this morning.
