Interfaith Service Honors Fallen Dallas Police Officers

Five fallen police officers are being honored at a memorial service in Dallas. They were killed in a sniper ambush last week. Dallas Mayor Michael Rawlings said Dallas’ pain is a national pain. President Obama and former President George W. Bush will speak at the interfaith service. First Lady Michelle Obama, former First Lady Laura Bush, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill are also at the service.

Defense Rests In Latest Freddie Gray Officer

The defense is resting its case in the trial of Lieutenant Brian Rice, the fourth of six Baltimore police officers to face charges in death of Freddie Gray. Rice did not testify on his own behalf. As the highest ranking officer involved in the arrest of Gray last year, prosecutors say Rice had a duty to secure Gray in the police van where it’s believed he suffered a deadly spinal cord injury. Defense attorneys say a crowd was growing unruly at the arrest scene and it would have been too dangerous to seat-belt an uncooperative Gray in the cramped transport vehicle.

Teacher Aide Trial To Be Held Next March

A federal judge has scheduled a trial for a former teacher’s aide accused of videotaping children performing sex acts. The trial for Deonte Carraway will begin March 14th of 2017 at the federal courthouse in Greenbelt, Maryland. Carraway is accused of crimes against children aged nine-to-12. He had worked as a teacher’s aide at Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School in Prince George’s County when the alleged crimes occurred. His lawyers have already asked the judge to suppress statements made by Carraway, claiming he has a low I.Q.

Clinton Reportedly Considering Retired Admiral For Running Mate

Likely Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton could tap a military man for running mate. The “New York Times” says the Clinton camp is vetting retired four-star Admiral James Stavridis. Earlier today, Clinton picked up the endorsement of former rival Bernie Sanders at a unity rally in New Hampshire. Likely Republican nominee Donald Trump is also thought to have a military man on his short list of possible running mates. Retired Lieutenant General Michael Flynn has been advising the Trump campaign.
