Oppressive Heat, Advisory In Effect

A Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 o’clock tonight as the DC region deals with oppressive heat and humidity. Forecasters say today will be the worst of the current heatwave, with heat indices in the triple digits through the afternoon. Tuesday will be hot, too. Forecasters are calling for highs in the upper 90s.

FBI Probes Hack Of Democratic Party Emails

The FBI is investigating the cyber hack at the Democratic National Committee. The agency said today the probe will focus on “the nature and scope of the matter” and holding whomever is behind it accountable. DNC officials have said they suspect Russian hackers. Fallout over leaked emails has already cost Debbie Wasserman Schultz her job as DNC chair. Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager called the release of some 20-thousand party emails “disturbing.”

Police: Deadly Fort Myers Nightclub Shooting Not Act Of Terror

Police in Fort Myers don’t believe the deadly mass shooting at a nightclub was an act of terrorism. Two boys are dead and as many as 18 others are injured in the shooting around 12:30 a.m. during a teen night event billed as a “Swimsuit Glow Party.” The victims were identified as 14-year-old Sean Archilles and 18-year-old Stefan Stawder, a Lehigh Senior High School basketball player. Some of the people in the club were as young as 13. The wounded range in age from 12- to 27-years-old with two in critical condition and two others in fair condition. The others were treated and released.

Off-Duty Deputy Involved In Shooting

The Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office says an off-duty deputy was involved in a shooting. The shooting happened early yesterday morning on Campus Way South in Largo. The Sheriff’s Office says two men approached the deputy and at least one of them had a gun. The two parties exchanged gunfire. No injuries were reported.
