DC launch a bold initiative to deal with the rash of violence in the Shaw community…

DC Police have set up a community outreach post in the Shaw neighborhood to protect resident and combat the spike in violence. It will be manned by police 24 hours a day until the end of summer. Residents are encouraged to stop by and report a crime or to just talk to police.

Frederick, Md leaders struggle over where to move a controversial bust of Roger Taney, who supported the Dred Scott Decision…

Last night, Frederick, Maryland residents spoke out for and against the removal of a bust of Roger Taney that sits outside of the Frederick, Maryland Court house. At issue is Taney’s support of the “Dred Scott Decision” which prevented slaves from having the right to sue for their freedom. Taney is also known for stating slaves, “had no rights which the white man was bound to respect”. Leaders are looking for a place to relocate the bust, possibly a museum.
