GOP wins big Virginia…

The Election results are in and Republicans were able to hold onto control of the State Senate. They already had control of the House. The other big race was the Mayoral race in Alexandria. Allison Silberburg won defeating former Mayor Bill Euille’s write in campaign. There were several Mayoral races across the state of Maryland. In College Park history was made when voter elected their first openly gay Mayor.

DC police investigate the death of a man held by two special officers…

Police in the District are looking into the death of a man detained by two apartment security guards. When officers arrived they found 27 year old Alonzo Smith of S.E. handcuffed and unconscious. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

DC leaders could decide to allow 16 year olds to vote for President..

Ward 6 DC Council Member Charles Allen believes 16 years old should vote in local and national races. Tuesday Allen introduced The Youth Vote Amendment Act of 2015, that if approved by the council would allow just that.

First Chic-fil-a opens in DC…

The first Chic-fil-a store in DC opens this morning next to the Columbia Heights Metro Station. The first 100 people will get free meals for a year.
