“Heat Advisory” in effect for WHUR listening area at Noon…

It is really going to heat up today! At the top of the hour the entire WHUR listening area will be under a “Heat Advisory”. Limit your outdoor exposure and if you have to go out stay hydrated and wear light colored clothes. The heat index will make if feel between 101 and 109 degree’s.

Family of Sandra Bland wait on private autopsy report on how she died in a Texas cell following a traffic stop…

The family of Sandra Bland found died in her Texas cell 3 days after she was arrested during a traffic stop for kick a State Trooper, is awaiting results from a private autopsy. The Medical Examiner ruled the 28 year olds death was a suicide.
Hempstead, Texas Officials say she used a trash bag to hang herself from a ceiling fixture. The Family refutes that claim.

Metro creates a new position in the wake of the Red line smoke death…

At 1:45 this afternoon, metro and WMATA Officials will announce a new position created in the wake of this years red line smoke death. Metro’s new position is fire and rescue liaison. Today press conference will be at the WMATA Cameron Turner facility in Landover.
