Two standardized test show most H.S’s in DC “Not” ready for college…

Seventy-five percent of High School students in the District are not prepared for college. That’s the findings from two standardized tests, one on English and the other on Geometry. Not good but it can be improved says Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson. The results which were reported in the “Washington Post” shows only 25% met college proficiency in standard English and only 10% in Geometry. When race was a factor the numbers were slightly lower with only 8% of black students being proficient in Geometry and 20% of blacks being proficient in English.

3 DC Officer’s placed on leave following questionable use of force in N.E….

The DC Police Department has placed three Officers on leave following the release of a cell phone video of them allegedly using excessive force on a suspect the believed was high on PCP in N.E. last Monday. DC Police Chief Lanier is quick to point out that this does not mean they did anything wrong and she’s asking the public not to rush to judgement.

S.C. Deputy is expected to be fired today for use of force on a 16 year old A.A. girl…

In South Carolina, NBC news is reporting that the Richland County Sheriff Deputy seen on video dragging a 16 year old African American girl across her classroom floor, will be let go. The Deputy who was working as a School Resource Officer has been identified as Ben Fields. At the top of the hour Sheriff Leon Lott will hold a news conference regarding the latest in the investigation. Yesterday he shared his displeasure with what he saw on the video.
