DC’s top cop is retiring…

After 26 years on the force. DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier has announced she will retire effective next month. No other details were given.

“Heat Advisory” now in effect in DMV…

The National Weather Service has issued a “Heat Advisory” until 8 tonight. It will feel like 110 degree’s outside this afternoon. If possible limit outdoor exposure. Today should be the last day of excessive heat this week.

DC Police Officer under arrest for incident caught on cell phone video tape…

There are more questions than answers this morning following a video posted on twitter. It appears to show a tiny woman being lifted and pinned on a police cruiser by a white DC Police Officer. It happened yesterday near Howard University at 7th and T Streets in NW. The officer later released her and do not charge her with a crime. The DC Police Department says they are investigating the video.

County Executive Ike Leggett headed to site of apartment explosion…

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett and Senator Ben Cardin are headed to the site of last weeks deadly apartment explosion in Silver Spring. It comes on the heels of a 6th victim that was found yesterday. Another person presumed missing was found safe. He had moved out before the explosion. Now there is only one person unaccounted for.

Peace returns to Milwaukee…

Peace has returned to Milwaukee following two nights of violent protest because of the fatal police shooting of an alleged armed African American man during a traffic stop. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is thankful things have calmed down. The police body cam video has not been released. There’s no word on when that may happen. The officer was also African American.
