Alabama Certifies Jones’ Victory Over Roy Moore For U.S. Senate Seat

Alabama Democrat Doug Jones is headed to the U.S. Senate. The state elections board officially certified Jones’ victory over Republican Roy Moore today despite a last-minute lawsuit. Shortly before the board met, a judge tossed out Moore’s request to halt the process because of voting irregularities. Moore lost to Jones by more than 20-thousand votes in the December 12th race to fill the seat left vacant when Jeff Sessions became U.S. Attorney General.

Man Accused Of Shooting At Police Flips Car During Pursuit

At least 13 miles of traffic is backed up on the I-95 after a suspect evading police flipped his car today. Stafford County officials say around 11:30 police tried to pull over a black SUV when it matched the description of a look out bulletin. The driver allegedly pulled off to the side of the road and opened fire on the deputies before a high-speed chase that resulted in a serious crash. The suspect is recovering from his injuries in a local hospital, while all northbound lanes of the I-95 are closed until the crash is cleaned up.

Michael Flynn’s Brother Asks Trump To Pardon Ex-NSC Chief

The brother of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn wants the President to pardon Flynn. Joseph Flynn sent a flurry of tweets to President Trump Tuesday, leaning on him to pardon the retired Army general. Flynn said his brother took the biggest fall of all Trump officials. Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia’s former ambassador to the U.S. He’s also cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Arctic Blast Likely To Greet New Year’s Revelers

Bitter cold continues to grip much of the nation as Americans get ready to welcome in the New Year. The National Weather Service says dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills will continue to affect the northern Plains, Great Lakes and Northeast into the weekend. Wind chill advisories are in effect for parts of Montana, North Dakota and New England. Northern Maine had wind chill readings of 30-below zero today. Winter storm warnings are posted for parts of Washington state, northern Idaho and most of Montana through the weekend.
