Maxine Waters responded to a string of death threats she said she received at an immigration rally on Saturday, telling them to “shoot straight.”

“I know that there are those who are talking about censuring me, talking about kicking me out of Congress, talking about shooting me, talking about hanging me. All I have to say is this, if you shoot me you better shoot straight, there’s nothing like a wounded animal,” she told the crowd.

The new wave of hostility comes after Waters took a public stand against Donald Trump and his administration, making her a target of his followers. While the President has taken many twitter jabs against Waters and others who’ve stood against him, he took to twitter again last week to threaten Waters for her comments telling American citizens to take action against Trump and his policies, specifically the separation of families at the border, saying she should be careful what she wishes for.

The Hill reports, Waters was forced to cancel a couple of her events in Alabama and Texas this week after receiving a very serious death threat.
