McCain Will Vote No On New GOP Healthcare Bill

Senator John McCain will vote no on the new Senate Republican healthcare bill. In a statement today, the Arizona Republican said he “cannot in good conscience” vote for the Graham-Cassidy bill. It was McCain’s vote that killed the last Senate Republican healthcare bill in July.

Tractor-Trailer Catches Fire On I-95

Crews are cleaning up the mess made by a tractor-trailer fire on I-95. Maryland State Police say a rig carrying clothing caught fire around 8:30 this morning on I-95 South, near Route 100 in Elkridge. Investigators think a blown tire may have sparked the flames. The driver pulled off to the right shoulder, but southbound traffic was forced on to the left shoulder to allow firefighting crews to clean up the scene. There were no injuries.

Court Order Mentor Accused Of Sexual Abuse

The court-ordered mentor of a 14-year old girl is facing sexual abuse charges. Andrew Brooks was arrested Wednesday accused of criminal sexual activity with his mentee several times throughout July and August. Brooks allegedly drove the girl to his home on Minnesota Ave South East near Edgewood Baptist Church to commit the crimes.

Mexico, Puerto Rico Overwhelmed With Natural Disasters

Emergency crews are working around the clock in Mexico and parts of the Caribbean following the devastation from natural disasters. The death toll is approaching 300 as crews in central Mexico continue to search for survivors among the collapsed buildings after Tuesday’s powerful earthquake. Meanwhile in Puerto Rico, millions are without power, food or clean water in the wake of Hurricane Maria. Swells from the monster storm are expected to reach the southeastern U.S. coast today, creating life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
