One arrest made in S.E. vehicle accident into an apartment building…

Crews are inspecting a Southeast DC apartment complex for a potential gas leak. Police say an SUV collided into a building in the 23-hundred block of Good Hope Court, SE around 4:00 this morning. Officials say the offending vehicle fled the scene. Residents of the building were forced to evacuate while the building’s gas lines were checked. One person has been taken into custody.

Hoarding may be partly responsible for one person’s death in a house fire. It happened around quarter-of-nine last night in Arlington on South Grant Street. The fire department says hoarding conditions inside the home made it hard for firefighters to get inside. Once inside, firefighters found one person dead, while another was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

A woman killed in a house fire is being remembered as a sweetheart who saw the good in everybody. That’s what neighbor Betty Mills says about best friend Lisa Herring. The 58-year-old Herring was found dead after a fire in her Capitol Heights home yesterday morning on Crown Street. Mills and her son tell ABC-7 they tried getting into the house when they saw the fire, but the smoke was too much.

President Trump is not backing down from his assertion that the phones at Trump Tower were wiretapped by the Obama administration leading up to the election. But Republican Senator Marco Rubio tells NBC’s “Meet the Press” he has “no insight” into the president’s claim and that the White House “will have to answer” for whatever he was referring to. Trump is back at the White House today after another weekend in Florida.
