President Trump Condemning The Violence In Charlottesville

President Trump says the Department of Justice has opened a civil rights investigation into the violence that occurred at a white nationalists march in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday. He added that we must unite against hatred, bigotry and violence. Trump directly called out white supremacists and the KKK.

Man Charged With Driving Into Crowd Has First Court Appearance

The man accused of mowing down protestors of a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia killing one and injuring 19 is being denied bond. James Fields made his first appearance in court today via video conference. He faces one count of second-degree murder and three counts of malicious wounding. Fields was arrested Saturday afternoon after he allegedly drove a car into a crowd of people and two other vehicles, speeding away from the scene. Heather Heyer later died from her injuries. She was 32.

Trump Fires Back At Merck CEO

President Trump is firing back at Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier, who abruptly resigned from Trump’s Manufacturing Council. Trump tweeted this morning that Frazier will have more time to, quote — “lower ripoff drug prices!” After the deadly weekend violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, Frazier noted that he is resigning as a matter of personal conscience. He said the U.S. must reject expressions of hatred and bigotry. President Trump is under growing pressure to publicly condemn white supremacists and neo-nazis.

Shop MD Tax-Free Week Runs Through Saturday

Many parents are already taking advantage of the state’s annual back-to-school tax holiday. Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week officially began yesterday and continues through Saturday. No sales tax will be charged for school supplies or clothing and shoes sold for less than 100-bucks. The first 40-dollars on a backpack or book bag purchase is also tax-free.
