D.C. Teachers Ratify Contract

Unionized teachers overwhelmingly voted in support of a new deal.

(Washington, DC) — There is labor peace in the D.C. School District after teachers have ratified a new contract. Unionized teachers overwhelmingly voted in support of a new deal which provides teachers with a 12-percent retroactive raise for the past three years as teachers worked under an expired contact. The pact also calls for a four-percent retention bonus for every teacher. Teachers will also receive 250 dollars for classroom supplies and athletic trainers will receive an additional 250 dollars to purchase training supplies.
