Maryland Raises Age To Buy Tobacco Products

Soon you’ll have to be 21 to purchase tobacco and nicotine products in Maryland. Governor Larry Hogan signed a measure today to raise the age for buying tobacco from 18 to 21. The legislation takes effect in October. The law will apply to all types of tobacco products such as: Cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping devices. Members of the military are exempt from the new law. Maryland is the ninth state to raise the age to buy tobacco.
