Sink Hole Prolongs Delays On GW Parkway

Traffic to be diverted, for another day, on a section of George Washington Memorial Parkway. A ten-foot sink hole the cause.

The National Park Service says a stretch of the George Washington Memorial Parkway will stay closed going into tomorrow. A ten-foot sinkhole opened up on the parkway causing northbound lanes to close between Virginia Route 123 Chain Bridge Road and I-495 Capital Beltway Friday. NPS plans to reopen one lane in time for the evening rush hour Tuesday. Rain over the weekend prevented the Park Service from making repairs.
