Proposed Amazon Warehouse Clears Hurdle In Prince George’s County

A new Amazon warehouse got initial approval from the Prince George’s County Planning Board Thursday night. Some residents don’t want the facility because of increased traffic, among other issues.

A new Amazon warehouse to be located in Prince George’s County is moving closer to reality despite concerns from some residents.  At issue is whether an 800-thousand square foot merchandise logistics center should be built at the Westphalia Town Center in Upper Marlboro. Traffic from trucks making delivers throughout the day and night, as well as the quality of jobs at the proposed plant among the concerns brought forth last night during a hearing before the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
The planning commission approved the project last night with conditions. The measure now goes before the county council for final approval.
