Race, Racism and Public School Education

Addressing race and racism after hate crime charges are filed against students in Frederick County, Maryland.

Last week… three eighth graders at Middletown Middle School in Frederick County were charged with hate crimes.  They posted video threats of deadly violence against black students on social media.  One of the three boys is also facing a gun charge.  This incident has frightened and galvanized students and parents.  But it raises a lot of questions about racism and how children view race in school.
