  • The Birchmere presents the legendary Whispers tonight and tomorrow. Both shows start at 7:30pm


  • ‘Turn Me Loose’ The story of comedian Dick Gregory is at  Arena Stage, the first black artist to expose a national audience to racial comedy. This John Legend-produced show runs through Oct. 14,tackles his career in a raw portrait that promises to leave a mark. 8 p.m. |  Tickets

  • ThePrince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreationis hosting its first ever Celebrate Africa Festival this weekend at Bladensburg Waterfront Park. Sunday, October 14thfrom 12pm to 5:30pm. More information here:


  • The Howard University Department of Theatre Arts is presenting the stage play Jonkonnu (Junk-kah-nu). Performances take place in the AL FREEMAN JR.
