Here are some great events to check out this weekend in the DMV.

 

  • The 2018 Ubiquitous Women’s Expo,is this Saturday and Sunday at the Washington Convention Center, celebrating 5 years of excellence.  There will be informative seminars and workshops, star-studded entertainment, celebrity guest speakers and more.  WHUR will be broadcasting live.   • Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Clubpresents Kirk Whalum with special guest Zahara,Friday night, hosted by our very own Angela Stribling. Doors open at 6pm.  Show time is 8pm.  Then on Saturday, Leela Jamesperforms for two shows 7pm and 10pm.

 

  • On Saturday, it’s the 16thAnnual Pink & White Affair, featuring Stokley of Mint Conditionat the Marriot Wardman Park Hotel.Hosted by Triscina Grey.  Show kicks off at 8pm.

 

  • The2016 Tony Awardwinner for Best Musical Revival, The Color Purple, is at the Kennedy Centerrunning through August 26th. For ticket information go here:
  • Comcast Xfinity Outdoor Film Festival
    This four-day celebration of movies (Thursday – Sunday) benefits the National Institutes of Health Children’s Charities. The scenic Strathmore Campus is a fantastic place to enjoy an evening outdoors, so bring along the crew to catch eitherCoco, Black Panther, The Lion King (Saturday night’s screening) or Wonder Woman. You’ll also be able to enjoy food from Ridgewell’s and ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s!   • DC Beer Week– Final Weekend
    Through this Sunday, DC bars and restaurants celebrate beer with an array of specials and events during DC Beer Week, which is being held for the 10th year in the nation’s capital. DC Brewers’ Guild has curated an incredible collection of ways to honor and consume delicious brews throughout the week, concluding with a record fair and beer consumption at Right Proper Brookland on Sunday. Make sure to check out the other spotlight events as well as the full event calendar.
