There Are Great Events Going On This Weekend Around Town

Weekend Haps Update: 

  • This Saturday, come join our very own Angela Stribling at the  Old Glory Harley Davidson 11800 Laurel Bowie Rd, Laurel, MD from 11 to 2 pm. This will be your last chance event to register to win a brand new 2017 Harley Davidson 750A motorcycle. There will be refreshments, giveaways, prizes and more.


  • September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month and the Howard University Center for Sickle Cell has a host of activities planned to help bring awareness about the disease. Friday night will be a candlelight vigil starting at 6pm  at Howard University Hospital.  For more information go to:


  • This Saturday, This Wine, Arts & Food Festival is a chance to sample unlimited pours from more than 20 Virginia wineries, browse the work of 50 different artisans, watch cooking demos, and enjoy live music. It’s a family-friendly affair and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Spirit of Hope Children’s Foundation. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door, and include performances, demos, and wine tastings. Food is available for purchase.


  • On Sunday, head to the AdMo for live music, an arts market, food and drink specials at participating restaurants and bars, and freebies from local businesses. You can also get access to additional deals by snagging a festival wristband. Admission is free, wristband donation is $10.


  • The 12th Annual Nation’s Triathlon will take place Sunday, September 10, 2017 in the nation’s capital, Washington, DC. It features a course that winds through Washington, DC’s monument corridor in the shadow of the nation’s best known memorials and national treasures.


  • The Olympic Distance triathlon, sanctioned by the USAT, includes a 1.5k swim in the Potomac River, 40k bike course through DC, and a 10k run through Washington, DC’s historical landmarks with a spectacular finish! In 2014, we introduced the inaugural Sprint Distance triathlon. Sanctioned by the USAT, the Sprint Distance course includes a 800 meter swim in the Potomac River, 26.5k bike course through DC, and a 5k run through Washington, DC’s historical landmarks with a spectacular finish!
