This Morning on Taking it to the Streets

Some history for you this morning on Taking It to the Streets. Howard University is preparing to honor one of its own for his great deeds in laying the ground-work for establishing the University as one of the top producers of Black doctors in the nation. Three days of celebration are set for next week for Dr. Andrew Billingsley who is my special guest as he talks about his 90th birthday celebration.

For three days, from Wednesday, April 20, through Friday, April 22, Howard University’s Afro-American Studies Department, supported by numerous campus and external sponsors, will host a celebratory symposium, “Howard University in the Decade of the 1970s,” in honor of the 90th birthday of Dr. Andrew Billingsley. The April 20 opening-night program will run from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Founders Library Browsing Room, concluding with a welcoming reception. The April 21 and 22 sessions will convene in the Armour J. Blackburn University Center from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., respectively. The symposium is free and open to the public.
