Weekend Haps

  • The legendary Patti Labelle will be kicking off her shoes and performing tonight and tomorrow at the Strathmore. Both shows start at 8pm.
  • Tonight at the Birchmere, Blue Note75 Presents “Our Point of View” featuring, Robert Glasper, Derrick Hodge, Marcus Strickland and more.   Show time is 7:30pm.
  • Also tonight Karen Bernod will be performing at Blues Alley for two shows, 8 and 10 pm.
  • Tonight at the legendary Howard Theatre, Beres Hammond will perform starting at 8pm
  • On Friday join our very own Triscina Grey as she joins the DC Parks & Recreations for Funky Fitness First Fridays. It will take place in Ward 6 at the Randell Recreation Center from 5-8:30pm
  • On Friday DC’s own Be’ la Dona will doing their thing at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club. Showtime is 8pm.
  • On Saturday, DC’s own Donnell Rawlings with the Fat Doctor will be at the Birchmere for a 7:30 show.
  • Also, you can check out the National Independence Day Parade starts at 11:45 am along Constitution Avenue from 7th to 17th Streets. The Parade consists of  floats, marching bands, drum corps,  military and specialty units, giant balloons, drill teams, VIP’s, national dignitaries, and celebrity participants. So bring the whole family out and have a great time.
  • On July 4th America’s National Independence Day celebration honors our country’s birthday with an all-star salute from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.  This star studded event will feature, General Colin Powell, Smokey Robinson, Kenny Logins, Yolanda Adams, just to name a few.  Gate open at 3pm and the show starts at 8pm.  It’s free and open to the public so get there early.
