American Student Beaten To Death In Greece

22-year-old Bakari Henderson passed away July 7 in a bar fight while visiting Greece. It was reported that Henderson was visiting Laganas, in the island of Zakynthos in Greece, to shoot photos for his new clothing line. Friday night, Henderson reportedly got into a confrontation with another person at a bar that turned into a brawl that moved outside of the establishment.

At least eight people were arrested for involvement in the beating of Henderson. When the fight moved outside he was beaten brutally and footage shows that he was severely beaten even after he was unconscious.

Two of the men involved, a 32-year-old Serbian man and a 34-year-old Greek man, were employees of the bar according to the Washington Post. The others were arrested later that night after police identified them from the surveillance tape but they are still unsure of what prompted the altercation.

The University of Arizona grad was called a “peacemaker” by his friends.

“Bakari was not one to act aggressively like that. He was always the one who was the peacemaker,” said Bakari’s friend Travis Jenkins.

Henderson’s friends started a GoFundMe page to assist the family with funeral costs.
