Director and producer Ava DuVernay is teaming up with Netflix again for a Prince documentary.

The multi-part documentary, produced by Netflix, will highlight the late musician’s entire life.

DuVernay has full cooperation with Prince’s estate, which grants her access to interviews, photos, and music, as reported by Variety.

The A Wrinkle in Time director expressed her excitement for the documentary through Twitter after news spread of the collaboration.

In an interview with Deadline, the acclaimed director talked about her process for making the documentary.

“The only way I know how to make this film is with love. And with great care. I’m honored to do so and grateful for the opportunity entrusted to me by the estate.”

DuVernay wasn’t only entrusted with Prince’s archives from the estate but from Prince himself. According to Deadline, before his passing the late singer reached out to DuVernay directly about collaborating together.

With access to Prince’s archived records, global fanbase, unreleased material, and a list of other things DuVernay has been working on the documentary with her team, including editor Spencer Averick, for several months now.

Along with the documentary, the director is also in collaboration with Netflix for a limited series, The Central Park Five, that will premiere in 2019.

DuVernay made her debut to the big screen in 2008 with the movie This Is The Life, which covered the alternative hip-hop scene in Los Angeles back in the 1990s.

Since then her work can be seen through big screen productions like Selma, A Wrinkle in Time, the documentary13th, Queen Sugar, and countless others.
