Donald Trump Fires FBI Director James Comey

Tuesday Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey. Comey led the investigation into Russia’s interference with the 2016 presidential election. The announcement shocked everyone including Comey who learned of his firing from the news.

Comey was once seen as the unimpeachable and nonpartisan ideal of how a law enforcement officer should behave. He felt his reputation was tarnished following last year’s election.

Trump cited Comey’s dismissal was based on his handling of the investigation into Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton‘s email server but Democrats feel otherwise. Some elected officials feel Comey was getting too close to the White House with the Russia probe.
