Fans Want Lebron In And Betsy DeVos Out As Secretary Of Education

The people have spoken. Over 6.500 signatures were collected in support of a petition to have Lebron James replace Betsy DeVos as the US’ secretary of education. Lebron James recently opened his very own school, the I Promise School, in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

The I Promise School currently provides free tuition to 240 third- and fourth-graders, free uniforms, a bike and helmet, complimentary transportation within two miles. free meals, a food pantry for families, GED and job placement services for parents and guaranteed tuition to the University of Akron for all graduates. The school will expand year by year, going to second and fifth grades next year until it is grades 1-8 by 2022.

Complex reports the petition, drafted by Rebecca G., describes DeVos as “a scandal-ridden Republican donor who shows an inexcusable dislike for public education, wants to gut protections for women and minorities, and has advocated for teachers to be armed in schools.” While James is lauded as “an inspiration to kids all over the country. He’s shown he cares about America’s youth and understands the power of public education in helping children meet their true potential.”

It doesn’t appear Trump has any plans at the moment to replace DeVos. He tweeted:

“Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!”
