Have You Seen Gabourey Sidibe’s Incredible Weight Loss?

Have you seen Gabourey Sidibe lately? The Empire star is quietly shedding the pounds and looking fabulous. Who knew this incredible talent was battling depression, anxiety and bulimia and undergoing weight-loss surgery nearly a year ago? The actress is telling all in her memoir This Is Just My Face: Try Not To Stare.

The 33-year-old actress told PEOPLE why she decided to secretly get the laparoscopic bariatric surgery last May. She has lost over 150 pounds.

“I just didn’t want to worry. I truly didn’t want to worry about all the effects that go along with diabetes. I genuinely [would] worry all the time about losing my toes.”

Gabby went on to say she did not get the surgery to feel beautiful. With such a vibrant personality, she exudes confidence.

I really do like a gross ass bathroom selfie…..I gotta get my life.

“I did it so I can walk around comfortably in heels. I want to do a cartwheel. I want not to be in pain every time I walk up a flight of stairs,” she told the magazine.

“There’s nothing ugly about me,” she writes. “Anyone trying to convince me that I am — and it’s usually me — is wasting her time. I was in a war with my body for a long time. If I’d started treating it better sooner, I wouldn’t have spent so many years hating myself. But I love my body now.”

That’s right Gabby! Her memoir This Is Just My Face: Try Not To Stare is set to be released May 1.
