This year’s midterm election has been victorious for women, especially women of color. 19 black female judges broke barriers as they were elected as county judges in Harris County in Houston Texas. This is the single biggest victory for black women in the country’s history according to Cosmopolitan.

The 19 phenomenal women who won are Sandra Peake, Judge Ramona Franklin, Judge Maria Jackson, Germaine Tanner, Angela Graves-Harrington, Cassandra Holleman, Tonya Jones, Dedra Davis, LaShawn Williams, Latosha Lewis Payne, Linda Dunson, Toria Finch, Erica Hughes, Lucia Bates, Ronnisha Bowman, Michelle Moore, Sharon Burney, Shannon Baldwin, and Lori Chambers Gray.

These women converged together on the Democratic ticket under the slogan “Let’s Make History.”

And so they did, as their campaign poster went viral and supporters on Twitter discussed this monumental moment.

Even Shonda Rhimes showed these wonderful women support during this #BlackGirlMagic moment.

This victory is groundbreaking especially under President Trump’s administration. It is imperative that there is more range and diversity holding office to represent the communities that underrepresented in this country.
