Singer Ashanti recently opened up to Maria Menounos during an interview on SiriusXM’s “Conversations with Maria Menounos” radio show.

The “Unfoolish” singer said that a producer up-charged her for a song after she turned down his unwanted advances.

“I’ve come across a situation where there was a certain producer that, you know, he had his little crush or whatever but it wasn’t anything new, you know? And once I said ‘no’ all of sudden the track became $45K.” she continued.

She also shared that the producer tried to get Ashanti in the shower with him.

“It’s funny you know because he said something like, ‘Well just take a shower with me and let me do this’.”

The Grammy Award winner later shared that she got her older brother to confront him about the situation.

“The way that apology came in, I actually got three records for free and I got two of them mixed and mastered for free also.”

Here is the interview in which Ashanti shared her #METOO story:

Ashanti feels that the #MeToo movement is important to show women that there are others out there who are going through similar issues and give women that extra motivation to speak up.

The #MeToo movement was started by Tarana Burke in 2007 and resurfaced ten years later, amidst accusations of sexual assault and harassment that were leveled against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
