Steve Harvey Offers to Pay Bullied Teen’s College Tuition

Warning, you may need a box of Kleenex for this story. Morning syndicated radio show host Steve Harvey and wife, Marjorie Harvey, just made a major impact in the life of a bullied teen from the DMV. Harvey offered to pay the teen’s tuition through the Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation.

William Williams was honored by Steve Harvey and Disney earlier this month at this year’s Disney Dreamers Academy. Williams, a teen from Virginia, shared his personal testimony of depression and being bullied by classmates. The teen, born with albinism, bravely shared his story in front of a crowd of hundreds.

In his Disney Dreamers speech, William thanks those bullies, saying their ridicule and hatred helped him overcome suicidal thoughts and pushed him to refashion himself. In fourth grade, he turned to poetry to ease his pain.

Harvey’s original plan was to present Williams with a check of $10,000 towards his college education. He later decided he wanted to cover Williams’ full tuition. He also presented Williams’ mom with the check for $10,000 towards finding them a home.

Harvey surprised Williams on his nationally syndicated talk show. It’s an emotional moment for not only Williams and Harvey but for viewers as well.

Be sure to catch that episode April 24 on NBC.
