Will Smith Received Obama’s Blessing To Depict Him In A Movie

James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke has become such a hit that the Late Late Show segment is now featured as a standalone series on Apple Music.

For the series’ opener on the debut music platform, Corden requested Will Smith to sit in the passenger’s seat as they both hilariously performed songs like “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” and “Boom! Shake the Room,” while discussing Smith possibly depicting former president Barack Obama in a major film.

The actor explained how he’d been given the proposition to portray America’s first Black president and has received the green light from Obama.

Essence reports Smith stated “I talked to Barack about it. He told me that he felt confident that I had the ears for the role.”

There have only been two biopics that recount the former president’s life, per Vibe. The films Southside With You and Barry both chronicle Obama’s early endeavors such as attending Columbia University and meeting his wife, Michelle Obama.

Currently, Smith has signed a deal to play Gene in the live-action version of Aladdin, and he will also star in the upcoming fourth and fifth installments of the Bad Boys’ franchise.
