Abrams Not Giving Up Georgia Governor’s Quest

(Atlanta, GA) — Democrat Stacey Abrams is not giving up her quest to become governor of Georgia. Republican Brian Kemp has declared victory but Abrams is not conceding. In Atlanta today, Abrams’ campaign manager Lauren Groh-Wargo said votes are still being counted. She argued that the race is close enough to trigger a possible runoff election. Former Marine ID’d As Gunman In Southern Calif Bar Shooting

(Thousand Oaks, CA) — A former Marine with a troubled history is identified as the gunman in a mass shooting at a Southern California bar. Investigators say 28-year-old Ian Long killed 12 people and then took his own life at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks last night. Records show he used a legally purchased Glock .45 caliber pistol in the shooting rampage that also left more than a dozen others injured. Long served one combat tour in Afghanistan where he earned the rank of corporal in 2011. According to service records, he spent five years in the Marine Corps as a machine gunner.

Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said Long may have been struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder. Deputies previously had been called to his home for a domestic disturbance, but Long was not taken into custody after being evaluated by a mental health specialist. The sheriff said they’re still looking for a motive in the shooting rampage at the crowded country music bar about 40 miles west of Los Angeles.
