Bowser Declares State of Emergency

(Washington, DC) — DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is declaring a state of emergency as Hurricane Florence pushes toward coastal areas of the Carolinas and Virginia. (Shanksville, PA) — President Trump says the U.S. will never flinch in the face of evil. Trump marked the 17th anniversary of 9-11 at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania today. He praised the “incredible valor” of the passengers aboard Flight 93 who perished while stopping the hijacked airliner from reaching Washington, DC. Trump called them true heroes and said all the victims of the 9-11 attacks will never be forgotten.

Protesters Are Calling For Justice In Light Of Dallas Officer-Involved Shooting

(Dallas, TX) — Protesters say they’ll take to the streets again after an unarmed black man was fatally shot by a Texas police officer. At least 100 protesters marched through Downtown Dallas Monday, demanding justice in the death of 26-year-old Botham Jean. Officer Amber Guyger was arrested over the weekend on a manslaughter charge after shooting Jean inside his apartment last week. Guyger says she thought she was in her own apartment when she came across Jean.
